Big Morongo Canyon Preserve.......3rd March 2014

After the storms of the last few days there is now snow on the mountains....Yorkieman took this photo from the roof of our home........what he wouldn't do for me and my blog what a hero !!
On the road to Morongo Valley......
Today we are at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve.......it is an "oasis" in the desert that has been turned into a nature preserve and educational area....luckily we didn't come across any mountain lions or even one although it would be nice to view from afar :)
Part of the desert Willow Trail.........
A pretty blue jay....we also saw several hummingbirds.....there are bird watching hikes but as they start at 08.00 Yorkieman    says we'll pass.....
Part of the Marsh Trail showing signs of where the rains have washed through......
An old wreck, we assume pushed from the canyon rim, and now a feature of the  Yucca Ridge Trail...
Looking back down into the valley from the heights of the Yucca Ridge Trail....a moderate climb...
The Preserve is a nice quiet area although not far from the main highway.......
Back home and time for a round of golf on the campsite golf course....
Sunset over Sands RV and Golf Resort....
Tomorrow we move on to Escondido.....there will be a break in transmission from The Travelling Brits, we are visiting with folks that we met on a tour of Alaska in 2009....
