Orfila Winery & Safari Park, California......6th & 7th March 2014

On route from Palm Springs to Escondido.......we are putting the 5th wheel into storage for a few days while we stay with Randy and Leslie in their lovely home in Escondido, near San Diego, we met these nice folks on our Alaskan Land Tour in 2009.....
I must remember to take a photo when we get back to the storage to show what a tight spot Yorkieman reversed into....with my help of course  !!!!
Day 1 and a great visit to their local winery for a tasting and tour........R & L had packed a picnic lunch and we spent several hours sitting on the terrace in the warm sunshine looking at this view and of course tasting wines... :)
Today's visit is to the Safari Park...... it is approx 1000 acres of park for animal & plant habitat of  mostly endangered species.....
We love these little chaps, they are so pretty and unusual....
Shortly after this photo was taken this guy decided it was time to find one of his females and publicly continue the  reproduction process  !!!
We took the interesting tram tour ride through Africa.......
Ahhhh....memories we owned a 1951 Landrover in the late 1970's similar to this....

Lots of beautiful spring flowers,  it's a good time of year to visit .....
Whilst having lunch overlooking the view of the safari park this hawk suddenly flew over grabbed a lizard and  tucked into his snack.....
Winston keeping an eye on his offspring....they were having a lovely time playing tag.....

These little chaps are always entertaining.....
There is also a fabulous Bonsai collection..........we should have started a bonsai years ago !!!

A great day out, very interesting and informative, lots of walking and not only through the animal park but also through the plant collection and Bonsai Area........
